STATEMENT

I'm an Audiovisual Artist & Engineer from Argentina.

I develop visual content for live performances working work along with musicians, artists,

theater directors and cultural managers in order to enhance their creations and

transfor their works.

I use tools and techniques from real-time video, creativecoding, videomapping, and lighting .

 

Most of my work is a combination of science, technology and art.

I'm interested in the study of the aesthetics and technical aspects of sound visualization,

generative process, computational algorithms, geometrical abstraction and mathematical

& data transformation processes.

I create  audiovisual performances together with my brother, the engineer and musician Dani Roperto, under the ROOR pseudonym

BIO

 

Hernan Roperto is an Audiovisual Artist & Engineer from Argentina, who develops visual content for live performances.
He started his career as a VJ in 2007 and since then he has accompanied with visuals to multiple musicians, DJs and Theater Plays.
His main areas of interest are live performances and audio-reactive visuals, creative coding, video mapping, projection design and audiovisual installations.

 

His work is a combination of science, technology and art, looking into the aesthetics and technical aspects of sound visualization, generative process, computational algorithms, geometrical abstraction and mathematical & data transformation processes.

 

He creates audiovisual performances together with his brother, the engineer and musician Dani Roperto, under the ROOR pseudonym.

His projects have been exhibited in different International Ferstivales such as FILE (Sao Paulo,Brazil), Live Performance Meeting (Rome, Italy), Mutek Argentina, Creative Coding Festival(New York, USA), Pleamar (Mar del Plata, Argentina), EVAAF Visual Art & Audio Fest (Bilbao)FILE Sao Paulo, among others.

 

As an audiovisual producer and filmmaker, he has worked with many mediums over the past years, participating in multiple projects such as documentaries, fiction feature films, TV shows, advertisements, music videos.

He was a member (2014-2019) of EspacioLab , a program that works at the crossroads between art, science and technology dependent on the Complejo Astronómico Municipal of the Rosario city.

​

He teaches courses and seminars that cover the different instances of audiovisual production and video in real time (Vjing).

He is part of the team of teachers at the Centro Argentino de la Luz (CAL) and the IFOE (Institute for Training in Show Trades)

​

He has taken classes and attended courses and seminars given by the artists Jorge Haro, Fernando Molina, Leonardo Solaas, Emiliano Causa, Jazmin Adler, Leo Nuñez, Luigi Tamagnini, Magdalena Molinari, Nicolás Vaurchasky, Soliman Lopez and Mariela Yeregui.
